FROM FULL HOUSE
TO FASHION WEEK
When we think of dynamic duos, a certain pair of twins always comes to mind.
For early 2000s lovers, Full House fans or avid The Row customers, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are the iconic duo that has made waves in the acting and fashion industries for decades.
The Olsen Twins started their careers playing Michelle Tanner in Full House, an 80s-90s sitcom.
The twins were scrunchie-clad stars with spunky attitudes and ‘80s-esque overalls as they frequently recited Michelle’s mantra, “You got it, dude.”
As Mary Kate and Ashley aged and Full House ended, they continued wearing trendy looks and acting, starring in movies like New York Minute, Winning London, and It Takes Two.
While Full House concluded, their passion for fashion did not. In 2006, the duo launched their luxury brand, The Row, named after the street Savile Row in London. Designed with minimalism in mind, they even strayed from a monogrammed logo.
They retired from acting in 2012, focusing on their fashion careers. By not promoting that they were the visionaries behind The Row, The Olsen twins let their brand speak for itself.
The twins' shows are just as private as they are. At The Row’s Paris Autumn/Winter 2024 show, Mary Kate and Ashley asked for no phones and no social media, and guests were asked to stick with the tried and true pen and paper, with few photographers there.
From trousers and collared shirts to the perfect white tee and flip flops, The Row has simplicity down pat. Celebrities acknowledge this quality, as Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lawrence have worn the brand.
Their trendiness has lasted decades as the Olsen Twins have recently drawn views for their iconic method of tucking their hair into the collar of their shirts. This phenomenon is now known on TikTok as–
the “Olsen Tuck” and has become a chic way of elevating a fall or winter outfit. Although Mary Kate and Ashley’s talents have moved behind the scenes, their creative vision, and their brand, remain the main character.
