UGG- the ultimate shoe for the winter season.

ALL ABOUT UGG

Brand History

According to the brand's website, the UGG brand originated and evolved from a traditional Australian shoemaking method. Australian native and surfer Brian Smith grew up wearing sheepskin, a material commonly used in Australia for mountain boots, slippers, and other styles to keep warm. Smith moved to California to surf and quickly realized that he needed warm shoes to protect his feet between surfs. Inspired by his Aussie roots, Smith created UGGs, with the first style being a sheepskin boot. Over time, the brand expanded internationally and collaborated with numerous high-fashion labels to remain relevant in the fashion industry.

Winter Staple

Invented in 1978, and then a staple in the early 2000s, UGG has made its comeback once again by blending comfort and style with functional winter wear. According to Vogue, Bella Hadid “ignited a whole new fashion movement” by styling the UGG platform minis in 2023. This look went viral on social media, the shoe sold out, and people again became obsessed with UGGs. Other models and celebrities began styling the brand, and it quickly rose to “fashion’s hottest new shoe,” according to Vogue. Do you agree?

So what makes UGG consistently relevant in the fashion world?

Platform is all the rage in today’s shoe game. With the platform mini UGG styles and other lofted shoes, UGG appeals to current trends. They pair well with jeans to run a quick errand or leggings and tall socks for a walk to class. Simplicity, comfort, and warmth consistently make UGGs a winter staple for teens and young adults looking to stay with the trends. If you think that UGGs aren’t for you, look through their website to find a broad range of styles, colors, and fabrics.

UGG in High Fashion

Not only does UGG align with trends to stay relevant, but it also collaborates with luxury brands to experiment in the fashion industry. In 2009, UGG “shook up the fashion scene” and teamed up with Swarovski to create sparkly and edgy capsule collections. Currently, UGG has partnerships with Telfar and Jimmy Choo. By combining classic elements of the UGG style with the characteristics of the partnered brands, UGG has continued to transform its versatility and image in the fashion world.
